If you move to Portugal and meet certain requirements, you may be able to apply for Portuguese citizenship and obtain a Portuguese passport. Portugal is an EU country, meaning your passport entitles you to travel as an EU citizen. Portugal also allows dual citizenship; you can obtain a passport without giving up your home country's passport.

THE PORTUGUESE PASSPORT
If you live in Portugal as a foreigner and acquire Portuguese citizenship, you are entitled to a passport that allows you to travel worldwide as an EU citizen and enter and leave Portugal as often as you wish. As a Portuguese citizen, you do not need a passport. Instead, upon naturalization, you will receive a Portuguese Citizen Card as a general identification document. However, this passport is advantageous for international travel.

The Portuguese Ministry of Justice (Instituto dos Registos e do Notariado) issues passports. Since 2006, the Portuguese government has been issuing electronic passports (Passaporte Eletronico Portugues – PEP) with enhanced security features and biometric data. All new standard passports are now PEP passports.
