\nHow do you apply for your first UK identity card online?<\/p>\n
1. Start the online application process using the \u201cApply for your first UK identity card\u201d button.
\n2. Create your account online (fill out the registration form and activate your account) or log in to your CitizenCard online account if you already have one.
\n3. Apply for a new CitizenCard, complete a new online application for a UK identity card and make the payment.
\n4. Choose a verification method \u2013 either a digital check of your photo ID or a reference person to confirm your identity.
\n5. Upload your photo and any required documents.
\n6. We will verify your identity with photo ID validation or contact your reference person.

\nIf you need your ID immediately, apply urgently using our paperless online application system. Please ensure you meet our photo requirements. If you do not have a valid passport (UK or international), photo driving licence (UK or European), or European National Identity Card, you will need a referee \u2013 someone who can confirm your identity. Original document(s) or confirmation of your details from official records. If necessary, check that your referee has completed the digital reference declaration form to provide us with their work details.
