THE FRENCH PASSPORT ONLINE
The French passport is one of two identity documents you receive with French citizenship, along with the French National Identity Card (Carte Nationale d'Identité). The identity card allows you to travel freely within the EU, but you will need a passport for travel outside of Europe.

France now issues biometric passports. Since June 2009, all French passports have contained the holder's biometric data, including a photo and fingerprints. This complies with current EU requirements.

The French standard biometric passport is a small, dark red, 32-page booklet containing a microcontroller that contains the holder's biographical data. As with many passports, the most important personal information—a photo, signature, personal details such as height and eye color, and the individual passport number—is printed on a single page on the back of the passport.
