NORWEGIAN PASSPORT – THE COOLEST IN THE WORLD?

The Norwegians’ love of nature is a defining element of their national identity.

And soon the essence of Norway will also be reflected in his passport.

The new Norwegian passport, designed by Oslo-based Studio Neue, combines style and simplicity.

It depicts Norway's natural landscapes in pastel shades. The new electronic passport covers use bold colors like red for standard passports and white and turquoise for immigration and diplomatic passports.

Shine UV light on these beautiful landscapes and they transform into the Northern Lights!

Thales is particularly proud to contribute to this project. In October 2016, the company announced that it would provide the third generation of the Norwegian electronic passport, the new electronic identity card, and residence permits for the country.

A NEW END-TO-END SOLUTION FOR NORWEGIAN CITIZENS
Thales' case management system coordinates all steps of the citizen's application – from biometric capture to issuance and delivery to follow-up processing of the documents.

The solution complies with the best practices of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) regarding registration, document verification, identity verification and lifecycle management.

Norwegian citizens can apply from home, book an appointment online, and register in the queue when visiting authorities.

You'll be guided through the various steps of the document lifecycle. For example, you'll be notified when your current document is about to expire or when your new travel document is ready for collection.

Thales is delivering its latest third-generation Gemalto ePassports based on the existing solution for Norway, offering a wide range of overt and covert security features.

High-quality security features, including irreversible, laser-engraved personalization information, are safely and securely housed on the genuine polycarbonate data side. The microprocessor is also embedded in the secure data side.
