HOW TO APPLY FOR A GREEK IDENTITY CARD
Visit one of the officials listed below in Greece or abroad with all the necessary documents.

For the districts of Attica and Thessaloniki, please contact the security authority of the person concerned's place of residence.

For the rest of the country, to the subdivision or security authority of the person's place of residence.

Where these services do not operate, identity cards are issued by the police at the person's place of residence.

If you are applying abroad, please contact the embassy/consulate (only in Germany or Cyprus).

Request an application form for a Greek identity card and fill it out correctly.

Fill out and sign a declaration (Dilosi), stating that you wish to apply for an identity card. Otherwise, the presence of a witness is required. Pay the stamp duty.

Submit it along with the required documents to the appropriate official for review.

The responsible official will then, if necessary, record your biometric data (fingerprints) and process your data.
If all information is correct, your identity card will be issued on the same day or a few days later.

Two recent black and white photos (for ID) in 3.6 x 3.6 cm format.

Application – Affidavit regarding the official retrieval of the applicant's data from the Integrated Information System of the National Population Register (OCPED) of the Ministry of the Interior, printed and presented to the applicant for signature. Retrieval via the (UCITS) is not possible in the following cases:
The municipality in whose register the applicant is registered does not have internet access in the Integrated Information System of the National Population Register (OCPED).

It is not possible to link access to the Integrated Information System of the National Population Register (POPs) of the municipality with the municipalities in which the applicant is registered.
The application for an identity card must be completed by the issuing authority based on the identity of the person concerned, verified through the Ministry of the Interior's Integrated National Information System or through the birth certificate. The application must be printed and presented to the applicant in paper form for signature.

Certificate from the nursing or health laboratory for blood type and Rhesus (if you wish to be listed on your ID card).

A travel document or other document issued by a domestic or foreign authority showing the person's "SURNAME, FIRST NAME AND LAST NAME" in Latin characters (if you wish to include the above elements in a manner different from the ELOT 743 standard, a binding declaration must be made).

For the issuance of an identity card, the applicant's information must be certified by a witness. For minors, certification by a parent or guardian is required.
