CZECH DRIVING LICENSE

Do you know what driving in the Czech Republic is like, but don't have a Czech driver's license yet? Thanks to the affordable prices and Europe-wide validity, we recommend applying for your driver's license here!

You can obtain a Czech driving license by presenting it at the Driving Licensing Office (Na Pankráci 1685/17, 140 00 Prague 4). Please note that requirements vary depending on the issuing location.

If you are an EU citizen (or a Norwegian, Swiss, Icelandic, or Liechtenstein national), you must exchange your driver's license for a Czech one if you intend to stay in the Czech Republic for more than six months (185 days). You can provide a rental or employment contract as proof.

If your driving license was issued by a non-EU country, there are two possible cases:

1. Your driving license meets the requirements of the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic (1968). If the country of issue of your driving license is on the list of contracting states (such as the Czech Republic), it will be a pink plastic card (54 x 86 mm) or a paper document.

The front should read “Driver’s License” in the national language of the issuing country.

The information must be provided in the following order:

Last name

First name

Date and place of birth

Date of issue

Expiry date

Name or stamp of the issuing authority

Driver's license number

Your photo

Your signature

Vehicle groups for which the driving license is valid

Additional information or restrictions for each vehicle group.

All information must be written in Latin script.

→ If you hold a residence permit for the Czech Republic valid for more than one year, you must replace your driving license with a Czech driving license within three months of the residence permit being issued.

→ If you have a temporary, long-term or permanent residence valid for more than one year, you only need to present your driving license at the municipal driver's office.

In both cases you must provide proof of your residence here.

2. If your driving license does not meet the above requirements (i.e., your license was not issued in one of the countries that have signed the Vienna Convention on Road Traffic), you must attend a driving school in the Czech Republic. After passing the driving school test, you can apply for a Czech driving license. Again, you must have resided in the country for at least six months and provide proof of residency. You may need assistance with this. We are happy to assist you through the process.

First, fill out this online application if you live in Prague or this one if you live in Brno.

We will then schedule an appointment at our office, and you will pay a deposit of CZK 1,500 (Prague) or CZK 1,210 (Brno), which is included in the total price. If you register through our agency, you will already receive a discount. After receiving your payment, you will receive all the information about our driving school.

Prices and details for Prague:

Foreigners cooperate with a driving school in Prague 4 that offers lessons in English.

The driving course for a car driving license lasts three months and costs 14,700 CZK.

The driving course for a motorcycle license is equally time-consuming and costs 18,500 CZK.

If you register for both courses, the total price is 26,700 CZK.

These prices include 3 months of driving lessons, the final exam (700 CZK) and a court interpreter to assist during the final exam (1,500 CZK).

Please note that you will need to provide a mandatory medical certificate before the class, which costs approximately 500 CZK.

Prices and details for Brno:

Foreigners also collaborates with a driving school in Brno-Židenice. The school offers instruction in English.

The driving course for a car driving license lasts three months and costs 12,910 CZK.

The driving course for the motorcycle license is equally time-consuming and costs 9,910 CZK.

These prices include three months of driving lessons (28 lessons of 45 minutes each), the final exam and the assistance of a court interpreter during the final exam (prices as above).

There is an additional fee of CZK 300–400 for medical confirmation of your health status.
